Statements, Inspection Reports, Completion Reports, Route Summary Reports, Edit
Word and Excel files right on the phone.
We purchased a Sprint Samsung “Moment”
Phone running the Google Android Operating System for testing of the wide
variety of 3rd party developers and the open architecture and its ability to
enhance "Route Rite"™ Legend Software offerings, without us having to reinvent
the wheel.
We wanted to see if we could mobilize
the Route Technician in one small hand held device, to approach maximum
efficiency at a low price point. So, we first analyzed the Developer's
Products for the Google Android Operating System as they related to the
Route Rite Route Service Billing Software user. We found an entire
Marketplace of Android products most of which were in Beta stages but there were
pages and pages. Here are some examples the low cost Android Phone Based
Software enhancements used by Route Rite Software at the
Android Marketplace.
Knowing that Sprint included its GPS Sprint Navigation, with turn by turn
directions, email and messaging, we thought has to be a low risk. We
purchased Sprint "Moment" Phone, which has a slide out keyboard and on screen
version. It also had a big enough screen to work in the field and just fit
in the Route Techs Pocket. After testing all the internal features for
their relevance to the Route Service Person and finding that touching an address
also activated Google Maps and directions, we then purchased each of the
targeted add-on Google Android 3rd Party Software packages, which were mostly
less that $20.00. You will see them below.
All of the below was tested with "Route
Rite"™ Legend Software and Sprint’s Samsung “Moment” Google Android Phone with
the various listed add-on software. Listed at the bottom of this page are each
of the add-on Android Software packages, along with their developers, where to
find them and the approx price range to mobilize your "Route Rite"™ Legend
Software.
First a little Performance Software Technologies, Inc.
Mobile History which originally began in 1995.
In 1995, Performance Software
Technologies, Inc. entered the Handheld Computer Market with the then Apple
Newton. We introduced it to the Pest Management Route Service Businesses (then
called Pest Control Operators), with the vision of Mobilizing the Route

remote office, because he is too far away to come to the office daily. This
Technician and the company would increase efficiency by getting the Service
Slips/Invoice emailed to his or her home to be printed. "Route Rite"™ Legend
Software helps:
1. The "Route
Rite"™ Software in the office can use
BCL's easy PDF Printer, Software to automatically make PDFs of the Route
Service Slips and Invoices that would normally be printed and given to the
technician, if they were in the office. It simple, this conversion to PDF
happens in seconds, less time than printing the forms. Then immediately in the
same process, the PDF Invoice(s) are attached to your email, ready for you to
address to the Technician. Now that the Service Slips are in the Technician
Email Box at home, from this point many different things can happen as will be
outlined below.
2. Now the
Technician can print the "Route Rite"™ Software PDFs attached to the email on
the PC or Notebook in his Remote home office, the morning of or the night
before. Now its just like they had come to the office regarding the Route
Service Forms, except that they are at the remote location and they are ready to
go servicing.

If this particular
technician need’s to get signatures on the "Route Rite"™ Service Slip Invoice or
indicate Materials Used or Payments made and get the signed form back to the
office right away. Well no problem:

Once the Service Slip is completed, the Technician will use the
add-on software
Burrotech “Scan2PDF” and take a quick picture of the "Route Rite"™ Form and
it is automatically converted to a PDF document and attached to an email to be
sent back to the office. Now in minutes the office has the signed completed
copy. The example below was from our testing in non pristine conditions,
but you will be highly impressed with the clarity. This can happen in
seconds.

Now the office has both an electronic hardcopy and a file hard
copy to go along with the records that "Route Rite"™ Legend is keeping for
Customer Service and Inventory Invoice History.

lighting and no special printing. We wanted to see a real life situation in the
street situation. Lighting and flat surface is important as it is with any
Picture, so we are not attempting to say it does not matter, however you do not
need to leave the field and go to a pristine, perfectly lit office.
Now during the Work Day:
What about a new service stop, scheduled on "Route
Rite"™ Software, after the Route Technician has left the home or remote office

The Route Technician has the Google Android phone, Samsung Moment
that has email, Google Maps and Sprint GPS Navigation built in. So the office
this time emails just that "Route Rite"™ Service Slip/Invoice to the Technicians
Phone Email.

With the add-on software of
“Documents To Go”, by Dataviz, the technician simply opens the PDF "Route
Rite"™ Service Slip/Invoice Attachment to the email.

We are currently evaluating the HP Officejet H470wbt Mobile
Printer for printing 8.5” x 11” forms in the Truck with Bluetooth or WiFi.

Tapping the address, on the Google Android Phone, on a form will
activate Google Maps for location and directions from the current location on
the map. If the Technician wants, Sprint Navigation with GPS will give “turn by
turn” directions.
The Route Service Technician
that does not need to leave copies of "Route Rite"™ Software forms with the
customer:

The office may send just the "Route Rite"™ Route Summary in Report
format or an Excel Spreadsheet via Email to the Remote Route Technician on his
Google Android Phone.

The Route Technician may Open the Excel Spreadsheet with the
“Documents To Go”, by Dataviz, then edit the spreadsheet and email it back with
service completed information. All of the other functions of the Google Android
Phone are functional, including mapping, GPS and Directions on the Sprint
Samsung “Moment” Phone.
